Dumbledore Action Figure

Back in December Hogwarts Herald brought you a story about the forthcoming Harry Potter Action Figure. While impressive in its detail, it is rather lacking in its style…basically, Harry looked like an accountant.
Now we have a sneak peek at the new Dumbledore Action Figure, and it’s really impressive. I guess you don’t really have to worry about Dumbledore looking like an accountant. The really impressive thing: these figures are only 3.75″ scale…so there only 3.75 inches tall. The fact that they have such rich detail is amazing considering the small scale.
Hogwarts Herald was hard on Cards Inc. (the makers of these action figures) after Harry was revealed, but with Dumbledore they hit the nail right on the head.
There’s also a short snippet about the Dumbledore Sneak Peek over at Action-Figure.com.

Here’s what I don’t understand.
Harry Potter: HUGELY popular.
Availability of GOOD Harry Potter merchandise fans: Nil.
Let’s not even speak of the fact that there were no action figures to coincide with the release of the last movie, Goblet of Fire (though the NECA company seems to’ve obtained the rights to produce them and word is that the expected shipping date will be in May 2007–much later than the actual movie release and just before the next movie’s release).
I actually had the (dis)pleasure of speaking to a Warner lawyer about the licensing of Harry Potter, and she told me that WB is very selective when it comes to granting licenses for Harry Potter; one would think that if this was truly the case, then we wouldn’t end up with such a lack of quality merchandise.
The best action figure for Harry Potter than anyone has put out is the Quidditch Harry from the Azkaban line (when the movie came out); though it wasn’t the greatest likeness (Quidditch Harry has a HUGE smile on his face, and if you’re a fan then you’d realize just how inappropriate that was for this movie/book), it is the greatest -real-/playable action figure for Potter because it has magnets in his feet and hands, and the broom and Snitch that he comes with are also magnetic. You can put this Harry -anywhere- (I have him hanging upside from the underside of our metal loft bed).
But since then? Nothing. And when I see articles like this one with the photos, I get a little annoyed that Warner doesn’t care too much to put out either something like magnet!Harry or something that’s beautiful to look at (like some of the workmanship that’s on the McFarlane “toys”).
