And the Odds are…
Bookies are now taking bets on who will kill Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and betters are putting their money down on Voldemort…and Harry himself.
Voldemort is currently the odds-on favorite at 4-5 odds, with Harry, Draco Malfoy and Ron Weasley all tied wtih 6-1 odds.
Why Harry? According to Rupert Adams, a spokesman for bookmaker William Hill:
“JK mentioned that Harry might be killed off and the general consensus seems to be that Harry is the final Horcrux and to ensure that Voldemort dies he will need to be sacrificed.”
Why people think Ron Weasley will be the one to kill Harry is beyond me. The books are no doubt dark, and Deathly Hallows will most certainly be the darkest yet, but Ron killing Harry—even if Harry tells him to do it for the greater good of the Wizarding World—would just be too over the top.
The only thing more absurd would be Draco killing Harry. He’s just an “all talk and no game wizard” who’s been exposed as nothing more than a bully time and again. Being killed by Voldemort is one thing…being killed by Draco would be a disgrace to Harry’s name, and J.K. Rowling wouldn’t handle the fate of her title character this way.
Who knows what will really happen, though? Ron and Draco are possibilities because we know to expect the unexpected with Harry Potter. Answers lie where you least expect them to lie, and this would certainly be the case with Ron or Draco offing Harry.
One more note: If Harry doesn’t die (I’d put my money on this if it was an option), all bets are off and the money will be returned to the betters.

I have not been able to even consider many of these theories because it sends me into fits of depression. I know major characters must die for it to stay true to the series, but I don’t WANT them too. If Ron dies I may actually mourn for weeks. Harry I’m half-expecting to die, so while I’ll be sad, it won’t devastate me. However, Ron’s death would as he has been my favorite character from day 1.
