Flying Car Arrives in Chicago for Upcoming Harry Potter the Exhibition
The opening of the Harry Potter Exhibition in Chicago is still over a month away. The Warner Brothers website for the exhibit and their contest was recently updated to announce that the Flying Car has arrived in Chicago as the first of over 200 costumes, artifacts, and props that will be in the Exhibition. The Flying Car is a Ford Anglia. The flying car was used in the second movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In the movie the car is a once normal car that has been enchanted by Arthur Weasley to make it fly. Dobby makes it impossible for Ron and Harry to get to Platform 9 3/4 to board the Hogwarts Express and they end up taking the flying car to get to Hogwarts. The car gets pretty beat up when they end up landing in the Whomping Willow as a crash landing after the long flight of following the Hogwarts Express to Hogwarts. After that experience the car ends up living in the Forbidden Forest. It comes to their rescue later on in the movie in the scene with the giant spiders.
Harry Potter the Exhibition is premiering in Chicago on April 30, 2009, where it will remain on display until September 27, 2009. The exhibited is then expected to continue in a touring exhibition fashion with it likely appearing at other science museums and such around the world, however as of now no other locations have been announced for this supposedly traveling exhibit. As is they did extend the Chicago dates by an extra two weeks or so already.
