Harry Potter Candy Review: Fudge Flies
This weekend I briefly mentioned getting Fudge Flies at the gift shop when I went to see Harry Potter the Exhibition. These definitely turned out to be part of the highlight of the disappointingly brief exhibit. The Harry Potter Fudge Flies candy is packaged in an attractive blue and brown box. Inside is roughly 70 small little fudge filled fly shaped pieces of chocolate.
I am not a big fan of milk chocolate, but I am pretty sure these are at least real milk chocolate and not that fake mockolate that has become prevalent in many chocolate products these days. I am not positive on how mockolate is ingrediently different, but I do know this does taste chocolatey and I have never knowingly like mockolate products. The outer milk chocolate shell of these is not bad, but for me it is the inner part that make the fudge flies so delicious. The insides is very creamy fudge filling that almost oozes out as you reach it. It takes chocolatey as well, but I think it is the smooth texture of it that I like the best.
Overall I really enjoyed the fudge flies, although I am not so sure about them being worth the $7.99 the Museum shop sells them for, but then again it is a way better deal than the $3.99 rather small chocolate frog candy. One issue I had is that they seem to have a low tolerance to heat. I bought them early in the day and carried them around town the rest of the day. When I got back to the apartment I found them starting to melt and it was in the 60s at most that day. They did at least for the most part retain there shapes when I put them in the fridge unlike the chocolate frogs that turned to pools of chocolate sludge.
