Harry Potter the Exhibition
I first hear about Harry Potter the Exhibition over the holidays when I was in Chicago and visited the Museum of Science & Industry. This exhibit opens at that museum on April 30, 2009 and is expected to remain open until September 7, 2009. The exhibit includes displays that attempt to recreate locations from the books and movies, such as the Gryffindor common room, Hagrid’s hut, and the Great Hall. I would love to see it and am going to be in Chicago several days next summer as part of my All the Ballparks road trip, but I am not sure if I will have enough free time to get over to see this exhibit. It sounds like I should plan ahead, though, as the tickets for the exhibit can already purchased the exhibits website and I would not be surprised if they end up sold out on certain days. The ticket prices are a little expensive at $26 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $19 for children ages 3 to 11, but they do at least include the rest of the museum as well, which has some pretty interesting things including a Fairy Tale castle like dollhouse that might appeal to some other Harry Potter fans. Plus if you are really into Harry Potter like me, then it is a price worth paying.
It looks like this exhibit might hit the road and be at other museums or locations in the further future, but all the website says is More Dates Coming Soon. At least it does say that and gives the hope for those that are not likely to get to Chicago to see it there that the exhibit might eventually come to a place they can see it at.
