Snape. Good or Evil?
Scholastic.com has been posting questions (speculations) about the final Harry Potter book. They’re on to question #5 (of seven) - but I’m going to back track to question #2 (Tiny Treasury has already asked question #1).
Is Snape good or evil?
My answer: good. I really believe it. I think that most of his nastiness comes from the way he was treated as a child/adolescent - and that he turned to the “dark side” in his youth because he saw no other way. But he must be good at heart, so else I don’t believe that Dumbledore would have brought him in as a teacher - if her really believed that he was as “far gone” as, say, Lucius Malfoy, then I don’t think he would have allowed him to teach anything.

I think he’ll end up being good, and that would be thr right thing to do for the last book. The whole series has shown him in a bad light, but with flashes of good, and to have him save the day at the end would be the best outcome.

I agree, he’ll end up good. Just re-read JK interviews. In one, an audience member asked about Snape’s “redemptive pattern”, and she was taken aback. I wonder what redemptive act he’ll do?

Snape has to be good or I’ll cry
He is seriously though my very favorite character. I think that of all of them he is the most complex and the most human!
